Company, Partnership, or Sole Trader - all businesses need to produce sets of accounts at least once a year. The taxman insists on this, as otherwise neither he nor you can know how much tax you should pay. At Martin Bruno, we aim not only to tell the taxman how much you need to pay, but also to give you the information that you need to see how well your business is doing.
In order to be able to produce accounts and VAT returns, all businesses need to have their account books kept in good order. Many people find this a grind. Martin Bruno will, if you wish, take the strain away from you and do the work for you. This also makes it much easier for us to produce the annual accounts, so there are economies.
Almost all businesses with a turnover of 85,000 a year need to be VAT registered and it is advantageous for many businesses that do not strictly speaking need it. Martin Bruno can advise you whether or not you need to register, whether (if you don't) it would be good for you to register, and whether it would be helpful to be on the annual accounting, cash accounting or special flat rate schemes. There is more to VAT than meets the eye!
One of the first pieces of bureaucracy that affects many small businesses is when they take on their first employees. Even if with only one, tax law requires you deduct Income Tax and National Insurance from your employees pay and hand it over to HM Revenue and Customs.
