Services
Seatax have worked closely with the Inland Revenue since 1979 to ensure that our clients do not fall foul of the complex rules surrounding the Seafarers Earnings Deduction. We monitor any new seafarer tax rulings or legislative changes and take action, where appropriate, on your account. Our extensive experience means we know how to bring your tax affairs in order to give you the best result, and keep them that way. We are proud of our people and the service we provide, we value your business and will make sure you are delighted with every aspect of our service.
Seatax was started when it was realised that, since the introduction of the 1977 Finance Act, the tax position of British Merchant Seamen became somewhat more complicated. Because of the nature of the tax laws, as they apply to Seafarers, extra allowances are earned for the fact of having to work outside the UK.
Tax advice services and preparation service, including advice and completion on all H M Revenue & Customs forms which you may receive including Self-Assessment. There may be additional charges for involved cases. Basically what happens is, on enrolment with Seatax, you authorise us to act on your behalf with regard to all income tax matters.
More than ever, specialised tax services for yacht crews are necessary to help yacht personal avoid getting into a situation where they will be liable to income tax in two countries. Many members of the yachting industry have been operating for years not declaring income to any government tax body on the assumption that they do not reside in any particular country.

Used to be good, now they don't even accept incoming calls "due to the amount of marketing calls taking up valuable time", "leave your details and we will get back to you".... only problem is a lot of us work at sea on ships, this is why we use your services, you can't just get back to us, you've left us basically unable to speak with someone about any issues. So it seems rather than paying an annual fee for services we are really now just paying the fee for you to fill in the forms at the end of the tax year.
Very slow to respond to emails etc. Disappointing as they used to be a good service.

I am employed by one of the big cruise lines, and first used Seatax back in 1994. Unfortunately the number of basic errors on my recent tax return would have cost me an additional 300 had I not made my own calculations. I was refunded my fee following my complaint, which I did not feel was managed competently. I have been advised by colleagues that the original Seatax team split and set up another tax advisor company in Doncaster (which they have recommended), and may explain the decline in Seatax attention to detail and service levels.

Very rude and unprofessional whilst on the phone. official documents lost in transit even though the post was packed with care and sent recorded too. Marine accounts are cheaper and more professional than this company and i would recommend future clients take these points into account when considering using this service.
