Our History Report

Founded by William Hinchliffe Prior in the late 1940s, the practice originally operated from Thorne, near Doncaster. The majority of our early clients were from the farming community and the firm continues to act for a significant number of farmers in East and South Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. The client base now consists of sole traders, partnerships, limited liability partnerships and limited companies from a wide range of backgrounds, including the construction industry, property developers, the farming industry, the motor trade, public relations, and various manufacturing, retailing and service industries.

We act on behalf of a wide range of clients, from assisting private individuals with personal wealth, retirement planning and taxation issues, through to aiding many types of businesses, including owner-managed businesses, partnerships, larger limited liability partnerships and limited companies. In addition, we also act for a number of charities.

John has nearly 40 years' experience in the profession. He is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and is also an Associate Member of the Chartered Management Institute (ACMI). John deals with all aspects of accounts, audit and taxation and general business advice. John has extensive experience of managing and handling HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) taxation enquiries.
