While many accountants rollout stock soundbites including "a personal approach", "a professional service" or "tailored solutions", we think you've probably heard them all before - no one seems to stand out or offer you anything different. That's why we're not going to repeat them. All those qualities, while important, are just the basic standards at H.M.Williams. As an accountant who has both your personal and business interests at heart, we really do like to do things differently, offering you an award-winning alternative.
Services
As a friendly, approachable, and proactive accountancy firm, our accounting team and supporting colleagues are all pulling in the same direction. Making sure you get the best help and advice, together with the most inclusive service to keep your business on the right track. We're all here to help you - whatever you need.
While many larger companies might use our services at key points during the year for annual accounts or tax advice, other smaller or start-up companies often need help in different areas from day one. So, are you a seasoned pro at running your business and looking for a complete accounting service, or are you just starting out and need a helping hand and some sound advice to get you started?
When your business is on track, moving forward, and growing like you want it to be, you'll have more than enough going on to keep you busy. But that's when the 'numbers' side of the business could take a bit of a back seat. Even if it's not, anything 'accounts'-based might be leaving you feeling confused or just completely mystified trying to make sense of it all.

Having taken my small business to HM Williams to undertake my companies VAT and general financial services the relationship started very well and the staff were polite and i felt very comfortable. From the very onset of my dealings with them, it was explained that i suffer with PTSD and Generalised Anxiety Disorder and have to take medication for this and felt it was professional to be honest and open about this as i have nothing to be ashamed off.
Our business suffered a flood last march 2019 and it closed the business for 7 months while we dealt with the 3rd parties insurance, during this time the loss adjusters were making contact with HM Williams needing information to support a business interruption claim, at this stage it was stressful trying to salvage my business and get back open. HM Williams did very little to help and the previous staff member Emma Leach went to the Director stating that she felt uncomfortable working with me and that she felt more like a social worker, there were other issues that this staff member had with a colleague and she left.
When i made contact with HM Williams, gone was the friendly receptionist and the same person who was pregnant was offish and quite frankly rude and seemed i was not welcome. Having spoken to Ashleigh with my partner present, he explained to me that his staff were refusing to do my books or accounts because Emma Leach had spoken to them about me and they did not feel comfortable to work with me because i suffer with a mental health condition.
Not once have i ever been rude or aggressive to the staff just really honest about my condition, When I spoke to Ashleigh and said that this was unacceptable and that i felt i was being discriminated for having mental health issues i said that why should i have to be penalised for doing nothing wrong. We offered a solution that my partner would drop in my books and deal with them on my behalf, but again the staff Sharon his manager still refused this and it left Ashleigh as the director being dictated to by bhis staff.
He offered before christmas to ask his colleague from a fellow firm to undertake my books and so on and that i carry on dropping the paperwork to them and the other person collect and return and i pay HM Williams. We have tried to arrange meeting before christmas to get the process working as i have the HMRC chasing my returns and its becoming urgent, they could not arrange this before christmas and said it would be done in January start off.
I have over the last 3 days called HM Williams and spoken to Beth on reception who assured me she would call me back the same day by 14.30 to update me, this did not happen. i have again called them today 3rd January and spoke to Beth again who said she would speak to Sharon the manager to help. Sharon refused to speak to me and when Beth came back to me she said she would call Ashleigh and Id get a call back, again nothing from him and i've reached the end of the road with being treated so badly by a so called professional and reputable company where the staff show no compassion or empathy, Like i said to Ashleigh how would he feel if he or a family were discriminated against for a condition that they cant help or have no control of.
His words were hed not stand for it, i get no enjoyment to leaving a review like this but i hope that companies and individuals looking to use HM Williams understand that the manner in how they treat people is poor and unacceptable. Given the nature and treatment, i have kept all the call recordings and videos of the meeting so that my claims cant be disputed by HM Williams and now as a result ill be looking to take this case further legally for being discriminated under the disability and equality act. Ashleigh i have been polite fair and done all i can to have this dealt with.

Called this company to enquire about fees and was met with the rudest receptionist on the telephone this morning. Very curt, short tempered and on the verge of being rude. Made me feel like I was an inconvenience to her. I will not contact this company again. They had their chance, I will only deal with professionals. I would not recommend! As you can see from the reply I got, I am now being called a liar! Despicable behaviour. How convenient.
