I have been with nixon williams since 2011 Standards have been slipping over the last couple of years. Very slow responses to emails. Annual accounts and self assessments are now very slow in being completed. I have also had 2 incidents where i was told last minute about a tax payment. Shame as when i first joined the company was excellent.

In January of this year, Nixon Williams' systems were hacked and the entire accounting portal went down. For about a week they didn't even send out an email to explain what was going on, and never gave any indication of how long this outage would go on for. Their phone lines were down and it was completely impossible to contact anyone. For a period of nearly a month I was unable to use the regular systems to invoice clients, log expenses or manage cashflow.
It was a complete mess and the lack of communication was appalling. I've since complained and been told I need to prove that there was a direct financial impact on my business, otherwise they feel like they are quite within their rights to keep all of the fees paid for that period. Never mind that some of the advertised features are the accounting portal (which was down for over a month) and a dedicated accountant (who was impossible to contact). I have now left as a customer and would warn anyone thinking of becoming a new customer to think again.

Their services use to be alright. Now I feel like I have to chase up for things and that they only contact me to sell me optional services such as filling the self-assessment tax return (which use to be free a few years ago). They're going downhill and the online tool, vantage, has become terribly slow in the last 2 years or so.

Had 8 or so good years with Nixon - couldn't really fault them, but since trying to close my Ltd company down it seems there's been a noticeable drop-off in quality. My original contact for the closure left the firm before the final accounts were done and no handover was done and my case seemed to just get left. A new individual picked this up and since autumn 2020 have chased numerous times, being told the accounts would be done in the next week each time.
This went on till Feb 2021, at which point individual no longer replies to emails, won't pickup phone and repeated requests for callbacks via the general phone number haven't resulted in any response yet. Great shame - since service a few years back was top notch.

Were good early on, but the last two years with a junior accountant have been quite poor. Had to let them go for general incompetence with incorrect submissions as our structure and payroll requirements were not standard. They also didn't implement tax code updates from HMRC, nor change VAT methods when revenue thresholds were met. Wasn't off-boarded properly and had to chase them down to stop doing incorrect HRMC submissions.
Also contacted by former principals of the firm to move to their new venture, so data security was obviously not a priority. Didn't return emails nor voicemail, so eventually had to contact HMRC to manually block their permission to submit on our behalf.

They set up my company promptly. The advisors are helpful and responsive. I personally like Vantage very much, it is easy to use and with regular maintenance it requires only little time and it provides always the latest financial position of the company. I was referred to this company by a friend and I have no regrets at all. I know there are perhaps a little cheeper alternatives on the market, but I find dealing with NW hassle free and so I think it is a good value for money.

I have found the process distressing having only been told to read guides with very little help. The vantage software is comprehensive but requires a lot of my time inputting instead of the accountant. If you go with this company please ensure they are clear with charges! There are many hidden charges up to 500 each.

Excellent team. Very proactive. Nicely laid down process, which someone calls you and explain to you ( rather than just point to a document), understands your circumstances and tailors the services accordingly. They use good technology. Everyone I dealt with were very helpful and proactive. Highly recommended.
