Audits provide a cornerstone to financial reporting. They furnish valuable and reliable information to banks, tax authorities and others who desire to make well-informed financial decisions. Each year many firms of accountants give up their licence to conduct audits because the regulatory bodies require a strict adherence to demanding technical standards and a commitment to continuing training.
The statistics are that 89% of businesses nationally keep their records on Excel and submit their VAT returns manually through the Government Gateway. Essentially VAT registered businesses are being forced to move from Excel to an accounting package. If you are company you won't have to file quarterly returns just yet but it is coming!
